First-Aid washing of an ocular chemical splash with Diphoterine® Solution at CEICA
Date : 2012-11-03 - Type de produit dangereux : Paint (lacquer and thinner)
How the accident occurred: A worker in the painting area, equipped with security equipment: goggles, face mask with filters and Diphoterine® LIS; carrying out work shift changeover tasks by checking quantities of paint (lacquer and thinner) prepared for the process, the paint having to pass through a pump for spray application. As he was kneeling down to check the quantities, the pump connection, due to pressure, suddenly disconnected from the pump, spraying over the worker’s whole face, who, as he pulled off the goggles began to feel a burning sensation in both eyes, for which reason he immediately carried out a washing with DIPHOTERINE® LIS, using up the entire 50 ml dose he was carrying with him as part of his personal protection equipment. There was an immediate improvement in the symptoms. Later assessment: He came for a check on 05/11/12, with satisfactory results, with no traces of injuries in the conjunctiva of the eye following the treatment applied.
