Chemical Hazard and Human Health - First Volume

Nearly twenty years after the first French edition (1996), we are proud to present this updated perspective on chemical hazards, with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of their impact on human health.
As health and safety professionals quickly acquired the 3,000 copies of the first edition, we decided to republish this work in English to ensure its international dissemination.

Over the twenty years since the first edition, drawing on our daily practice and experience, we have gained new theoretical insights and closely followed technological advances. We have incorporated these developments, particularly in the field of theoretical and experimental modelling of chemical burns.

This first volume provides the fundamental principles of chemistry, from the infinitely small to molecular structure, and to an understanding of intrinsic reactivity.

We describe all the parameters that influence the behaviour of atoms, ions and molecules within these substances, as well as in their surrounding environment.

This book, focused on chemical hazards and human health, serves as an accessible tool for readers, toxicologists, burn specialists, dermatologists, ophthalmologists, occupational physicians, and safety officers who wish to deepen their knowledge of chemistry, molecular mechanisms, and structure–reactivity relationships.

This will enable them to fully understand, in the forthcoming second volume, the toxicology of chemical substances in relation to the human body.
