The HEXAFLUORINE® solution
Developed by PREVOR Laboratories, the HEXAFLUORINE® solution was designed to allow the active washing of hydrofluoric acid splashes.
The HEXAFLUORINE® solution has a multiple action:
- The HEXAFLUORINE® solution is a liquid which removes the aggressive chemical from the surface by mechanical sweeping.
- The properties of the HEXAFLUORINE® solution allows the absorption of acid ions (H+) and fluoride ions (F-) very quickly and simultaneously.
Its power of chelation of these ions is 100 times higher than the chelating power of calcium gluconate (the usual antidote used on hydrofluoric acid burns). - Like the DIPHOTERINE® solution, the HEXAFLUORINE® solution is a hypertonic solution which enables it to stop the spreading of fluor ions and thus to play a part in the complete decontamination of the splash.
The combination of these three properties allows the HEXAFLUORINE® solution, used immediately after accident, to perform the optimal decontamination of hydrofluoric acid splashes and thus to prevent the dreadful sequelae that result too often from such kind of splashes (amputation, heavy surgery or even death of the victim by cardiac standstill).
Why are fluorides in acidic environment as dangerous as hydrofluoric acid?
The HEXAFLUORINE® solution eyewash
In case of ocular splash of hydrofluoric acid or fluorides in acidic medium, rinsing with the HEXAFLUORINE® solution as soon as possible is crucial.
Available as wall-mounted stations or portable eyewashes, eyewashes must be installed in a place so close to the potential splash hazard that they can be triggered in the first minute following an accident:

The HEXAFLUORINE® solution wall-mounted station may include a calcium gluconate tube. Also exists in an antifreeze version. |

The HEXAFLUORINE® solution wall-mounted stations can be used in the following conditions:
- In the entrance of laboratories,
- Under the packaging ventilation hood,
- Next to stripping baths,
- Carried around by maintenance staff, in non hazardous areas,
- In first-aid rooms, in order to perform additional rinsing, in case of late use on the accident scene…

HEXAFLUORINE® solution DAP
In case of cutaneous splash of hydrofluoric acid or fluorides in acidic medium, rinsing with HEXAFLUORINE® solution as soon as possible is crucial.
The HEXAFLUORINE® solution DAP autonomous portable shower must be installed in a place so close to the potential splash hazard that they can be triggered in the first minute following an accident:

The HEXAFLUORINE® solution DAP (DAPF) allows the rinsing of a complete body, with intervention within the first minute following the accident. The DAPF can be protected and easily identifiable indoors if installed in a specific box or outdoors in a protective unit for extreme cold. |
HEXAFLUORINE® solution DAPs can be used in the following conditions:
- In unloading areas for hydrofluoric acid,
- In laboratories,
- Next to stripping baths,
- Carried around by maintenance staff, in non hazardous areas,
- In first-aid rooms, in order to perform additional rinsing, in case of late use on the accident scene…

Type of dangerous product :
Mix of Hydrochloric acid 30% and Hydrofluoric acid 59%
One of the employees fell in an acid bath and was completely submerged. Rapidly washed with the HEXAFLUORINE® solution, the physician confirmed that the emergency treatment was very efficient. The employee got light burns on the back and the stomach comparated to the seriousness of the incident. Only the left eye is seriously burned when the right eye is in good condition.
