RESULTS: 1) Six case reports of splashes due to pure or concentrated acids or bases, 2) from 1987 to 1992, a statistical study carried out on 180 chemical accidents in a French company, 3) in a German factory, from 1991 to 1993, 42 chemical splashes due to caustic soda, 4) another German factory also obtained good results with the Diphotérine® rinsing on 24 cases of eye and skin splashes due to acids or bases, 5) the preliminary results from a French company on 375 cases of splashes due to major corrosive products comparing Diphotérine® versus water as first aid rinsing solution.
